The Skinny on My Husker DVDs

by Ryan King, 7/24/03

TITLE:  Big Red Rock: A Musical Look at the Huskers

LENGTH: Approx. 80 minutes of total content; 70 minute feature.

CREATED USING: Adobe Premiere 6.5, DVD Architect 1.0, Cyberlink PowerVCR II

All of my disclaimers regarding content and its use are on the disc itself.  If you don't have a copy yourself, and want one, I am sorry but they are no longer available. Please don't feel bad...there are members of my own immediate family that don't even get a copy.  Please understand that my extremely limited distribution of the disc was borne out of primarily legal and control concerns and was not intended in any way to be a slight on you if you didn't receive one.  The people included on the list included those who very close to the program, as I have certain goals on how the content might be used to assist the team and players I love so dearly.

As for the content itself, there are 17 main chapters of the feature, with a mix of 9 defensive videos, 7 offensive videos and 1 humor video.  Six of the chapters (in an earlier form at least) have been released in streaming format on www.huskerpowerhour.com.  They are free for all members of that board to see.

Early reviews of the disc have been favorable, although another primary reason for limiting the distribution is the current industry difficulty with standardizing burned DVD media.  Many players (Toshiba in particular) for home theater systems simply refuse to play the discs.  Others will play the discs, but will occasionally do weird things.  The most reliable players appear to be Sharp, Sony and Pioneer component systems, and surprisingly enough the Sony Playstation 2.  For more information on DVD burning compatibility I recommend the following site:

If you are interested in generating DVDs of your own and are concerned about which software to use or which formats to use I would happy to answer some questions if I am able.  Feel free to email me with any of your questions.

God Bless You All and Go Big Red,

Ryan
