Update (Ryan King, 12/04/05): I've created a commitment page for our 2006 class. It isn't cross-linked everywhere, but is available from this page. Enjoy. An update and an apology (Ryan King, 12/14/04): Some major issues have come up in my personal and professional life that have seriously cut into the amount of time I am able to spend updating this site, at least for the foreseeable future. One good thing though is that through a change in jobs, I will be much happier and am greatly looking forward to pursuing those new options. The flipside of this though is that I will be largely unavailable during the day, as I am fully committed towards excellence at my new venue. Hopefully this new-found happiness will result in a more positive outlook towards all things...including my beloved Huskers. Anyway, I would expect to try and update this site only occasionally now, as more a means of documenting what HAS happened than what WILL happen. Ryan
A Brief Update by Ryan King, 9/29/04 As it pertains to the recruiting pages: I have slightly changed my format on how I am tracking recruits this year. Time is rather short in my life now, but I am trying to efficiently present the information. The best addition to my recruiting pages is the inclusion of multiple rating sources such as Insiders, Max Emfinger and Tom Lemming to complement the Rivals network ratings. In this way I hope to present a more complete picture of how a recruit is ranked. I also am striving to show visits when possible, and even include periphery players (targets that aren't on our radar at the moment but we've offered) just so people have an idea of where our "backup plans" lie. As it pertains to the Frank Solich pages: Because I am in love with statistics and others have requested that I keep these pages up, I will continue to host these two pages. I have, by this point, very much moved on from that topic myself, but these pages can serve as a gentle reminder when necessary. Love him or hate him, Frank was a part of the NU program for a long time...and likewise I worked on that tribute page for a long time...so for now, it will stay. But I am done dwelling on the past to that degree. As it pertains to my use of images from Rivals.com, Insiders.com, etc: I am always careful to give full credit to the source for any images I use on my recruiting pages. Likewise, it should be obvious by my format that I pull this information from various sources. It should be noted that a vast majority of what I use...player data, favorites, etc...is not premium content from either major source (and its all free on Max Emfinger's site). You don't need a premium membership to see most of what I list. As far as the commentary, that is predominantly based on discussions with my own contacts, film or highlights I've seen, but it is MY own commentary. I am not just copying and pasting quotes and content. I recognize that this interviewers work very hard, and that paying members (like myself) expect the privilege of having access to that content and keeping it to themselves. But if you are reading this, then you are one of probably 5-10 people that even knows my site exists. I'm not hurting anybody here...this is just easier than emailing 25 of my friends every time I come up with a dimwitted idea! What message boards do I frequent?: For most discussion I am split about 50-50 between Big Red Report (premium Husker site on the Insiders.com network) and Husker Power Hour (an independent premium Husker fan site). I am occasionally on Husker Illustrated (premium Husker site on the Rivals.com network), and for many utility purposes/data gathering I am quite fond of Huskerpedia. More often than not though, if you drop me a line on either BRR or HPH you should be able to reach me. Why should I even care what you have to say?: You shouldn't. I have little "insider" knowledge or connections. My purpose is usually not to persuade, or even inform...but to present my findings. I believe people should feel free to think whatever they like. I do not need others to agree with me, or even listen to me...my self-image is not wrapped around my online persona. What I pride myself in doing is constructing logical arguments and points of discussion. I especially enjoy taking the counterpoint to discussions that appear too one-sided. There are always two sides to every story. I do not do this to create controversy or dissention, but to create a balanced perspective. If I'm lucky, along the way a couple people will enjoy my writing style and maybe think about something in a way that they did not before. Thanks for stopping by! Ryan King (OurDecay)
